“Which is your favourite room in The Pink House?” is a question I’m often asked. As my home has recently been renovated I find this difficult to answer, as I love it all!
I adore our playroom, with its internal steel windows, bright blue walls and proper circus trapeze dangling over the sofa. Then there’s the kitchen, the sunny, colourful heart of our family home. Oh, and my newly-constructed hallway, with acres of pretty tiles and the storage solutions of dreams – there’s even a designated ‘mud cupboard’ for the boys’ football kit!
And then, just off the hallway is – sigh! – the perfectly pink bathroom. Family spaces are all very well, but right now, after months of being locked down with two little boys and one largish ginger man, heaven is a space of my own. A space with almost-edible pink plaster walls, a gold-and-pink sink and shiny brass everything. Oh, and a lockable door. Praise be.
I didn’t think I could love my bathroom any more passionately, but then along came Soap & Glory and their new Uplift range. I’m a longtime S&G fan – as a devotee of all things pink, pun-based and perfumed, it was already practically perfect in every way. But like Mary Poppins, the Uplift range has the power to take your mood – and your bathroom – to the next happiness level. No talking umbrella required.
As you might have seen in my recent Instagram Reel, the Uplift range – including the Best Washes Body Wash, Scrub for Joy Body Polish and All The Right Smoothes In-Shower Moisturiser – magically transformed my bathroom into a pink tropical paradise, complete with fragrant flowers, fabulous fruity cocktail and reluctantly wafting man (props to the Pink House Husband for being such a good sport, even if he did whinge endlessly and refuse to remove his shirt).
Come on then Emily, I hear you cry: what makes Soap & Glory’s Uplift products so…uplifting?
Well, the scents for starters. These were developed in collaboration with global fragrance magicians Givaudan, and have been scientifically formulated to lift our collective mood. Yes – just one sniff and your body and mind feels uplifted, free from the stresses and strains of the past year or so, and ready to take on the day.
And there’s the way your skin feels, post-Uplift. For the ultimate routine, I start with the foaming Best Washes Body Wash, £6.50, formulated with vitamins B5, C and E to help brighten, hydrate and nourish your skin. Then I buff away dead skin cells with the Scrub for Joy Body Polish, £8, packed with walnut shell powder. To finish off, enter the super-smoother All The Right Smoothes In-Shower Moisturiser, £7, with avocado and brazil nut oils to lock in moisture. Who needs a posh spa – or indeed a tropical island (sooo 2019) – when you’ve got these beauties in your bathroom!
Finally, of course, they just look so gosh-darned good. If you’re into pink, that is. Which, would you believe it, I actually am! And, if you’ve read this far, I’m pretty sure you are too…
