House of Holland X Habitat - how to style it

April 29, 2016

So this week the House of Holland X Habitat collection dropped. And boy did it make a loud noise. As you'd expect, The Pink House is a HUGE fan of House of Holland's first ever interiors collection, with its fluorescent, playful, totally fabulous vibe, inspired by gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson's book Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. There are evil-looking pink neon bugs. There is leopard print. There are fuck-off great big trippy blue leaves everywhere.

But sometimes, faced with fashion-inspired interiors this fantastical, it can be a little tricky deciding how to include the pieces in your own home, which maybe isn't quite so...hallucinatory. Not to worry - The Pink House is here with...

3 ways to rock HoH X Habitat in YOUR home

1) Make the Abel sofa pop against a bold, dark wall

We love a colour pop sofa at The Pink House, and we don't care who knows it. The fabulous Abel - £895 for the armchair, £1,300 for the two-seat sofa seen above - would look totally wicked against a dark blue wall: Farrow & Ball's Stiffkey Blue, or Abigail Ahern's Rivington Blue for example. You could even go for a darker grey-black, such as F&B's Railings, as seen with a vibrant sofa in our Home Tour pic below. We reckon the armchair would look pretty rockin' in The Pink House's living room, too...

2) Add some pink to the Tropical Leaf cushion

It's part of The Pink House rules: you never need an excuse to buy a pink sofa. But you know what? If you DID need an excuse then these cushions provide the best one we've seen for a while. You could have a neutral living room, then all you'd need to do is part with a mere £60 for this brilliantly bonkers Tropical Leaf cushion (two cushions for the price of one! why not buy two and then you'd have four cushions for the price of two AND you can see both sides at the same time - this is the kind of logic-free logic we spout to the Pink House Husband on a daily basis) and throw in a pink sofa. Put this HoH cushion on a grey armchair and everyone's a winner! See pic below for inspo.

3) Mix and match - anything goes

One of the things demonstrated by the House of Holland X Habitat lifestyle shots, is that pretty much anything goes if you're in the mood for a pattern-and-colour mash-up. So mix yourself a Singapore sling and fling it all together - a leopard-print cushion here, a crazily-patterned rug there; you'll be amazed by how liberating this can be. And while you're at it, why not add a disco ball and fire up a few glow sticks - well, it IS a party after all...

"Fabulous family living!"

Emily Murray founder of The Pink House Living

"Hello! I’m Emily Murray, founder and editor of The Pink House. I’m a lifestyle journalist who has written and edited for loads of different publications, including Stylist, The Guardian, Grazia, Cosmopolitan, Conde Nast Traveller, Brides, and Mother & Baby. Here I am in the bricks-and-mortar Pink House in South East London, where I live with the Pink House Husband (PHH) and our two small, semi-feral boys. Our fabulous Christopher Farr sofa is covered in marker pen and chocolate, and the Eames rocker has a few suspicious stains. Come in and make yourself at home. No need to take your shoes off."
