I might be a reluctant cook with a penchant for Pot Noodle, but I do love to eat/drink (preferably pink champagne from a cut-glass coupe, if you’re offering). Which made the recent sorry state of The Pink House’s plates and glassware all the more shameful.
Somehow, between not adding a dinner service to our wedding list nearly 11 years ago (given that we ate out 75% of the time, I was much more interested in accumulating cash to spend on honeymoon) and procreating two small Pink House Dwellers who smash plates like they’re at a Greek wedding, we never got round to acquiring attractive tableware, although our plastic Peter Rabbit bowl game was strong.
Until I laid eyes on Marks & Spencer’s latest array of dining table deliciousness.
As part of my ongoing partnership with M&S, I recently wrote a blog post about my visit to the homes section of their Westfield Stratford store. As you can clearly see from this post, I had lots of kid-free shopping fun, and got rather overexcited about the pretty things I found (and not just because seeing them in three dimensions was such a novelty).
Many of my favourite bits came from the cook and dine area (I literally couldn’t leave that gold cocktail shaker alone), so I thought I’d bring them back to The Pink House and show them off in a family home setting. So long Peter Rabbit plastic bowls, melamine mugs and ugly cracked crockery – my dinner service (and drinks tray) has had an upgrade, and even the Pink House Husband’s delighted! Pass the sachet of soy sauce, please…and a coupe of pink champagne while you’re at it…
