When I welcome a new item of clothing into my life, especially one I’m deeply in love with (well hi there black-and-gold Chloe boots), I tend to go a bit dress-up crazy. I love how one fabulous new fashion item can totally transform your existing wardrobe, making the stuff you already own look shiny and new.
And guess what? It works with furniture too! And so, when I welcomed my gorgeous pink Hypnos bed into The Pink House, I was excited to dress it up with my various bedlinen sets. Except…disaster!
As my previous bed was super-kingsize, and my new bed is kingsize, none of our bedlinen fitted. And of course our actual duvet was the wrong size too – gutted as it was a gorgeous Marks & Spencer Hungarian Goose Down number; never have I slept under a more indulgent duvet.
Lucky for me, it was lovely Marks & Spencer who came to my – and my bed’s - rescue! Not only did they replace my existing duvet with the kingsize version (we gave our super-kingsize to charity), they also offered me my pick of their pretty range of bedlinen sets for the full bed makeover experience.
The kids had been wailing, “Mummeeeee! I’m hungreeeeee!” for about an hour by the time I finally made my bedding picks – who knew M&S had such a wide range? I pondered over the plain and plain-with-a-twist options (this pom-pom set was one of my faves). And then I made a cuppa and browsed the beautiful patterned sets on offer (with a different colour scheme in my room I’d definitely have picked this on-trend floral jacquard option).
But finding the perfect bedding’s not just about how it looks, but also how it FEELS. After all, me and the Pink House Husband would be spending eight hours* out of every 24 tucked between these sheets. Did I want casual linen? Soft, brushed cotton? Or maybe silky-smooth 750-thread count Supima cotton? As the children’s shouting reached a crescendo I made my final decisions, before defrosting some fish fingers.
Finally, just as no new outfit is party-ready without the accessories, no newly-made bed is fit for its photoshoot without flowers. Step forward my fave florist Hayford & Rhodes, who created these fantastic floral arrangements especially for this shoot.
OK, my bed’s dressed and ready for its close-up(s) now, so come on in. See bottom of the post for bedding credits and click-through links should your bed fancy getting its dress-up on too…
