You might have noticed from the Pink House Instagram that the list of pink places on our bucket list (it’s pronounced ‘bouquet list’, of course) is growing ridiculously long. So in the interest of getting organised, we’ve decided to create pink travel guides for our favourite places. They’re like regular travel guides, but read through rose-tinted glasses.
First up, it’s California because if you’re going to dream up a hypothetical* road trip, it should probably be to the land where road trips were invented.
*Hypothetical only until we can find someone to fund us travelling around the world Penelope Pitstop style.
Holy Matcha
What is it about the combination of pink and green that sets our interiors senses tingling? Whatever the reason, Holy Matcha in San Diego has got us all excited. When we make it there, we'll be drinking green matcha surrounded by pink walls, pink and brass fittings and a pink Italian terrazzo bar.
Sands Hotel & Spa
Pink rooms, pink courtyard, pink spa, the Pink Cabana restaurant and an exterior that looks like the pink branch of the Church of Scientology (we checked, it isn’t). Sands Hotel & Spa in Palm Springs is like stepping through your screen, Dorothy style, into a world of #pinkstagram.
Paul Smith pink wall
Travelling to another country just to see a wall might seem outlandish but hey, we never said we were pragmatists. Queue up behind the lines of L.A. insta-huns to snap a photo in front of the world’s rosiest wall.
The Beverly Hills Hotel
The Beverly Hills Hotel is everything, EVERYTHING you want California to be. Palm trees. Swimming pools. Hollywood history. And pink and green stripes everywhere you turn. It’s even rumoured to be the inspiration behind The Eagles’ Hotel California. Swoon.
Alfred Tea Room
America isn’t reknowned for its cuppas, but Alfred is changing all that. The pink and brass haven serves up everything from fancy matchas to bog-standard brekkie tea. But we’re not sure they’ll understand if you ask for your brew ‘builders’.
