I'm mid-bedroom renovation at the moment (my bespoke Hypnos bed is nearly finished! No more sleeping on the floor! Blog post coming soon!), and I'm at the stage of sorting out the lighting. This is NOT good room renovation practice by the way - ideally you should have planned the lighting from the start; because I didn't, I'm now in a situation whereby if I want my bedside lights to be wall mounted, I'd have to destroy the freshly painted walls in order to channel the wires down the walls. And much as I love a wall mounted light (these from Soho Home are particularly appealing), I love not having to repaint the walls even more.
So here are five of my favourite non-wall-mounted lamps that I think would look rather beautiful illuminating a bedtime book:
Margaret Howell Type75 in Saxon Blue (Anglepoise), £140
Silver and Gold Pineapple Lamp (Graham & Green), £125 (shade not included)
Berwick Table Lamp (Soho Home), £140
Small Artur in Stone Crackle Glaze (Pooky)
Stone Table Lamp (Tom Dixon), £215
